Deep in the blue of the night

I stare at this suspended world

Between two worlds

I listen to the slightest sound

The slightest drop

When glass prisons

Carry away our brothers

Helpless and naked

Up above

Toward the unknown sky

I add my tears

To the large salt bath

Up above, in the dry air

I hear silent agonies

I imagine strange rituals

I feel deaf machines

Huge and fragile

Weighed down with new threats

I breath, I breath in vain

The waves come in series

They strike out

Crack walls

Scatter their insides

And even hell burns up underwater

Concrete overtakes the water

Fumes drown out the sun

Crowds gather along the shores

Spread out and brimming with mirages

Slowly

Steel citadels swim over our heads

Slowly

Like ticking time bombs

between two floods,

The fog is my shelter

I disappear into its folds

The world is reborn in soft waves

As the sky and sea merge

Here they settle in the heart of our lives

With their floating factories

They pierce deep into the night

To inject their explosion drugs

Trying too hard to conquer the moon

Ghosts are deaf to our cries

But the fire rises up to their throats

Burning their insatiable palaces

Darkening sky and space

The ash flies and sinks

Our depths turn into dead dunes

and lagoons become common graves

Everywhere

Everywhere he must flee,

He must escape the sticky sludge

Poisons and cages

Even avoiding the tides

Where all of the sewer surges back

Lost in their element

Our bodies are washed up in masses

Burnt by the setting sun

The sea sinks

And the depths freeze over

The depths roar in anger

The wind moans and writhes

Salt clings and eats away

Yet the creature is still at the helm

Set in the wrong direction

Straight to the edge of the world

Eyes too often closed

And the pack gets reduced

To sail further on

Perhaps to float with the stars?

Or to be reborn in other waters?

I then dive once again

Away from machine and fuel vapors

At the bottom of a vast ocean

There is still space

For the birth of other currents

Film "Bleu Nuit" (Midnight Blue) - sand art animation

In March 2018, on the occasion of anniversary of the 2011 tsunami in Japan that triggered the Fukushima nuclear disaster, I make public my short film "Midnight Blue" created in 2013.
Unfortunately, since 2011, Fukushima is not over and the nuclear industry continues to expand, especially in France, where the danger of a nuclear disaster is becoming increasingly high according to specialists! And where in Bure, the state continues to want to impose bad and ruinous "solutions" for the most radioactive waste.
Since 2011, this world has still not detoxified Growth, oil and the race for profits.

– But whales are there to alert our ears, listen to them ... in "BMidnight Blue".

Synopsis

This ecological tale takes us to the heart of the underwater world, between night and light, following the rhythm of a whale's meditations, a privileged witness of human activity on the oceans.

History of the birth of the film

I imagined this film after creation of two live sand drawing performances for the Festival Musica Nigella in 2011, with music by Crumb and Natsuda .
The theme of the concert was "The Secret Life of Oceans" , and I was inspired dramas including the Japanese tsunami and Fukushima nuclear disaster , and the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico after the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil platform operated by BP .

Souvenirs: live painting video

Here is my first acrylic painting live under camera.
Souvenirs is a 18 minutes video, assembled from an improvisation of more than 2h realized on November 21, 2016.

As a continuation of my work with live sand drawing, I wanted to experiment with other matters.
For editing, I shortened the scenes and slightly accelerated some passages of the videos captured continuously.

– This plastic creation is totally improvised. I had just thought to start making trees that turned into buildings, that's all.

– Technically, I added a plastic film on my usual light table (a camera filmed from above), and I played with black acrylic paint and water. At one point, I also put red, it makes quite well, and then black is impregnated. I use pieces of plastic and various brushes. Thanks to the water, I was able to draw more than two hours without the paint dries.
For performances with this technique, it would probably have to make some adaptations.
It's more messy than sand, and it takes more room for tools.

I obtain nice effects of matter and can paint as fast as with the sand. There is of course a painting aspect, there are not thousands of grains of sand moving. The major difference with sand may be aquatic effects related to the use of water with paint. Here the surface keeps more traces of the images before, while one can easily remove all the sand to return to the pure white. We thus obtain interesting textures, memories from the preceding pictures.

I found this essay very stimulating, with beautiful pictures, poetic, dark, raw, I will perhaps pursue. Thank you for your feedback.

Synopsis : Salome has transcended time and survived the climatic and social disasters that humanity has triggered because of too much conservatism, disharmony and every man for himself. She tries to reconstruct everything differently with other survivors.
On a partially ravaged planet where the old rules were swept away, they must reinvent everything and are keen to work together in dialogue and mutual respect.

Creation background

As part of the Week of International Solidarity 2015 (SSI), the Departmental Union of Ain MJC (UD Mjc Ain, France) asked me this spring, with the support of the MJC of Montluel, to create a Moving Sand show.
So I started working from May to invent a history of about 45 minutes that correspond to the themes identified together: finding a harmonious way of living together, secularism, respect for others, the question of the differences between human beings...
I chose to put in the background the current social problems and climate problems will worsen soon.

Painting triptychs on lacerated cardboard

Here are some of my new experiments in June 2014 black acrylic painting on cardboard lacerated with cutter.

Each triptych looks a bit like a comic strip, it is the viewer who imagines action or links between the parties.

For these creations, I used scraps of cardboard framing who had served for cuts. Sometimes I've added extra cutter shots.

I think reuse this process. The dynamism and aesthetics lacerations are interesting and I likes opening a beginning of story, to put in perspective that allows a multi-faceted work side by side.

Synopsis

History of the birth of the film

For the first time , I used blue sand , which corresponded well to the diving atmosphere.

Thereafter, I imagined a storyboard inspired by these performances , adding other elements , including the issue of fishing and fish consumption.

Once editing advanced , on the advice of productor Citron Bien & Hélène Ducrocq , I wrote a poem to give another dimension to the film.
For the first time , I created a movie with lyrics.

Gérard Bonnotte then harmonized its original musical composition with this poem.
The film was completed in June 2013.
